Come out and join us this Sunday, July 24th, 2016 for the 2016 the Historic Homes Tour!
Come Tour The Homes:
Tours begin at 9am at the field next to the Pershing/Randall gate, on the main Fort DA Russell Day grounds. Each tour takes about an hour. The last tour leaves at 2:30.
All participants MUST register at the front desk – you won’t be able to enter the homes without a wristband. Transportation is provided, and you will also get the opportunity to stop by the Base Museum at the end of the tour. Each tour takes approximately 1 hour. No food/drinks allowed, and although we make as many accommodations as possible, this tour is not handicap accessible and climbing stairs is involved.
If you aren’t able to volunteer due to other commitments, we understand. Hopefully you will still be able to join us on the day-of, and participate in the tour! Many of the tour participants are our very own FE Warren residents, who want to learn more about what life was like for the families of Fort DA Russell’s earliest residents and support this community-enriching event.
For any more information the point of contact is Ms. Denise Hignight.
Help With The Homes Tour:
Half day and full day slots are available
Thank you to all who have signed up to help us make this event a success! The majority of volunteer slots are for tour guides, who dress up in period costumes and lead the tours through each of our feature homes. A wide selection of costumes in many sizes are provided by the WSC. Scripts are provided (memorization not required), and Warren AFB Homes is kind enough to provide all of our volunteers with snacks and drinks.
Is dressing up in historic costumes not your thing? There is also a need for welcome tent volunteers and greeters at the homes. Welcome tent volunteers sign up our guests for the tour, hand out wrist bands, and the loading of the buses. Greeters help the guests off and on the buses, introduce the homes, and make sure the tours stay on schedule. Simply click the link above to sign up!
